The comedy in this
Funny how I feel like crying
Wondering who’s to blame
For this charade
A tragedy so right
When someone takes the role of falling
Casting for the part
Of hero or fool
Taking on errant quests for your delight
Engaging in silly games
To while away cruel hours
Deluded by the script
Hero acted to perfection
Penned with cruel hand
Set for a fall
Sure it meant more than just a cameo
Dreamt it’d be you and me
Living it out too well
Trusting in my lines
But still not far from where I started
So spare me the trouble
I’ve played my part
Save all the fallen
Rescue those true
I’ve done all the crying
No tears left unshed
Save me, I’ve fallen
All hope has fled
Not vaudeville at all
Not mimicry, nor pantomime
No routines finely timed
Nothing on cue
Blocking unrehearsed
Every blow falls hard on target
No sleight of hand for sure
Everything’s real
Write me a fairy tale
With fanfare and happy endings
Spotlight on center stage
With enough room for two
Give me decent scenes
Author, write a better ending
Don’t lead me, then leave me
Just see this through
Stumble then fallen
Damn you, I’m true
Spare me your speeches
Heard them before
Save all the fallen
What lies in store?
So spare me the trouble
I’ve played my part
Save all the fallen
Rescue those true
I’ve done all the crying
No tears left unshed
Save me, I’ve fallen
All hope has fled
Lines fade and curtain falls
Our audience has left bewildered
This rigmarole is getting stale
Where does play-acting end,
Where does real life begin?
